Policy Number and Title

  • CD 700 - Correctional Interventions

Why was the policy changed?

Commissioner's Directive (CD) 700 - Correctional Interventions has been revised to reflect legislative changes that have been made to the Corrections and Conditional Release Act (CCRA) as well as to address recommendations stemming from the Report of the 2008 Policy Review Task Force and to incorporate information provided in Case Management Bulletins.

What has changed?

Several technical changes were made to the layout of the document. Extensive editing was done to remove extraneous details, improve clarity of the direction and focus on staff responsibilities.

Case management responsibilities and procedures are now detailed within the policy, which allowed for the removal of Annex A (Responsibility Matrix - Case Management in Men's Institutions) and Annex B (Responsibility Matrix - Case Management in Women's Institutions).

New timeframes for entries of Casework Records have been included in this CD.

How was it developed?

This policy was updated by the former National Policy Review Team and was the subject of a national consultation. It was then revised collaboratively by the Strategic Policy Division and the Institutional Reintegration Operations Division.

Accountabilities?

All positions for which there is an accountability are clearly identified in the Responsibilities section of the policy.

Who will be affected by the policy?

Staff and contractors providing interventions for offenders.

Other impacts?

None.
