Policy Number and Title
- CD 701 - Information Sharing
Why was the policy changed?
This Commissioner's Directive has been revised to reflect changes to the Corrections and Conditional Release Act (CCRA) and other recently passed legislation, to comply with the recommendations of the Policy Review Task Force, and to incorporate information from Case Management Bulletins.
What has changed?
Several technical modifications have been made to the layout of the document. Extensive editing was done to remove extraneous details, improve clarity of the direction and focus on staff responsibilities.
The procedures for information sharing with the Parole Board of Canada, which were previously outlined in CD 712-3 - Parole Board Canada Hearings, have been incorporated into this directive to provide for more centralized direction.
How was it developed?
This policy was updated by the former National Policy Review Team. It was then revised collaboratively by the Strategic Policy Division and the Institutional Reintegration Operations Division and was the subject of a national consultation.
Accountabilities?
All positions for which there is an accountability are clearly identified in the Responsibilities section of the policy.
Who will be affected by the policy?
All staff involved in the sharing of offender information.
Other impacts?
None.
