2009 PIERRE ALLARD AWARD
NOMINATION PACKAGE

PIERRE ALLARDThe Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) is pleased to announce that it is accepting nominations for the 2009 Pierre Allard Award. This award was established in 2006 in honour of Reverend Doctor Pierre Allard, former CSC Assistant Commissioner, for his outstanding commitment and leadership in the field of restorative justice and community engagement.

The award is presented annually to a former federal offender who meets the following criteria:

  • has been identified by the community as a person of integrity and strength and must have lived as a law-abiding citizen for at least 10 years;
  • has been identified as a model citizen who makes significant contributions to the community through educational, artistic, athletic or business accomplishments or commendable service to the public;
  • has been nominated with three letters of reference attesting to the character/values that have contributed to successful reintegration of the nominee;

The recipient will be announced at the Pierre Allard Award Ceremony. Time and venue to be determined.

2009 PIERRE ALLARD AWARD NOMINATION PACKAGE

YOUR NOMINATION PACKAGE MUST INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION:

1. The Nomination Form.

2. A Nomination Letter, providing an overview of the individual being nominated; a synopsis of the conviction and federal sentence served; and information about how the nominee is living a new life in line with the criteria.

3. Three Letters of Reference, attesting to the character/values that have contributed to successful reintegration of the nominee - that convey the nominee’s achievements as they relate to the award criteria. Please note that the letters of reference should not come from nominee(s) or their family members. Consideration should be given to how the individual has:

  • demonstrated his/her understanding and commitment to the values of Canadian society;
  • served to be an inspiration to others by effectively living a new life;
  • made a difference in the lives of other individuals and/or the community at large;
  • become a positive and contributing member of society by service or community work.

4. A photo of the nominee (which is used in a presentation of all nominees at the Pierre Allard Award Ceremony, not for selection purposes).
