In September 2006, CSC implemented a Social Integration Program for Women designed for women offenders. It is a short pre release program of 12 group sessions and 2 individual contacts with the facilitator. The Program design also includes a community support worker from the community to assist the women in making concrete plans and contacts at their release destination. The objective of the Program is to increase the readiness and preparedness of incarcerated women for their (re)integration into the community. Program involvement is based on the development of a social integration plan by each participant.
The women are engaged shortly after their admission to begin preparing for their release by completing an Intake Session where they receive the social integration plan and are instructed in the skill of goal setting.
Three months prior to their release they are offered the opportunity to complete the 4 modules which are Wellness, Relationships, Meaningful Occupations and Activities, and Community Functioning.
