Faith-Based Resources

Every year, the Chaplaincy Division works with community faith partners, namely the Church Council on Justice and Corrections, to develop faith-based resources, which are meant to inspire and assist faith communities at all levels to learn about and practise restorative justice values and principles.

Included below are descriptions of those resources, as well as links to printable versions and other online faith-based resources. You can also visit the General Resources Page for additional resources.

THE SPIRITUAL COMPONENTS OF RESTORATIVE JUSTICE

Abstract: The concept of spirituality in restorative justice practice is recognized as important but is often fuzzy and vaguely understood. This study did a content analysis of restorative justice texts and found nine distinct components of spirituality: transformation, connectedness/belonging, common human bond, repentance, forgiveness, making right a wrong, balance/harmony, rituals, and unexplained spiritual phenomenon.
