This bar chart shows HIV/HCV infection rates among inmates who have ever been tested. Rates are presented by gender and Aboriginal self-identification. Aboriginal women reported the highest rates of HIV (11.7%) and HCV (49.1%). The rates of HIV were as follows: all men 4.5%, non-Aboriginal men 4.8%, Aboriginal men 2.5%, all women 7.9%, non-Aboriginal women 5.5%, Aboriginal women 11.7%. The rates of HCV were as follows: all men 30.8%, non-Aboriginal men 29.4%, Aboriginal men 34.3%, all women 37.0%, non-Aboriginal women 30.3%, Aboriginal women 49.1%.
