This bar chart shows the number of participants who reported experiencing each emotion prior to engaging in NSSI.  The most common emotion endorsed was anger (n = 32), followed by depression (n = 22), anxiety (n = 17), upset (n = 16), lonely (n = 13), helpless (n = 3), guilt (n = 2), dissociated (n = 2), and positive (n = 2).
