Indigenous Interventions Centers

Indigenous Interventions Centers (IICs) include an integrated correctional approach designed to meet the needs of individual Indigenous offenders through a culturally responsive approach to case management. IICs and regional coordination of Indigenous interventions across a smaller number of institutions will:

  • maximize existing resources
  • create case management teams with specialized training
  • lead to increased transfers to lower security and conditional release

Improved engagement of the Indigenous community earlier in an offender’s sentence will increase success for offenders upon release.
