Why was the policy changed?
This policy was revised as part of the regular two-year review cycle and following consultations with the Security Intelligence Officer Working Group.
What has changed?
Several modifications were made throughout the policy document. The most significant are the following:
- The Responsibilities section was revised and modified to provide clarity.
- The Intelligence Observation Report section has been modified to provide more clarity to the intended users of the document, focusing on Preventive Security and Intelligence staff and any person performing the intelligence function.
- The Security Intelligence Briefing Record section has been revised to provide clarity on the timing, frequency and format of intelligence briefings, including the use of the Security Intelligence Briefing Record form (CSC/SCC 1443).
- The Partner Liaison Log section was removed, including the use of the form Partner Liaison Log (CSC/SCC 1442).
- Some of the definitions in Annex A have been revised, added and/or removed.
- Editorial and technical changes were made throughout the document.
How was it developed?
This policy was revised by the Preventive Security and Intelligence Branch in cooperation with the Strategic Policy Division. Full consultations were held with internal and external stakeholders.
Who will be affected by the policy?
All staff, including volunteers and contractors, who record and share security information will be affected by the changes of this policy.
