My job application

Question 1:

How do I check the status of my application?

Answer:

Due to the volume of applications we receive, we regret that we are unable to respond to specific inquiries regarding the status of an application.

Question 2:

What can I expect after submitting an application?

Answer:

Once you apply through the Public Service Resourcing System (PSRS) on Canada.ca you will receive an automated message in your account that your application has been received.

Question 3:

How and when will I be contacted?

Answer:

Communications are mostly done via email. Therefore, it is very important that you provide a valid email address and update your contact information if there are any changes. Due to the high volume of applications that we receive, it may take several months before you are contacted.

Question 4:

How long does the application process take?

Answer:

Once your application is validated, there are many factors taken into consideration. Depending on CSC's organizational needs, the volume of applications we receive, the particular job you applied to, and your preferred work locations, the application process could take several months.

Question 5:

Can I change my work location preferences once my application has been submitted?

Answer:

If your application is part of a nation-wide call for applicants, then yes, you may change your work location preferences. However, if the job opportunity targets a specific region or location, you cannot change it.

Question 6:

How do I change my contact information once my application has been submitted?

Answer:

Updating your contact information is very important. As outlined in the response to Question 3, after receiving your application CSC will be contacting you via email. You may update your contact information by replying to the email sent to you by CSC. Always state the identification number of the particular job opportunity you applied to. Don’t forget to also update your Canada.ca user account.

Question 7:

I've applied to a job posting and now I see another, similar posting. Will my application to the first process be automatically transferred or should I send another application?

Answer:

You must send another application, as each job posting stands alone. If the identification number of the job postings is different, then they are separate opportunities.

Applications are not transferred over from one job advertisement to another. If you are interested in a similar job posting, you must send another application.

Question 8:

How do I know if another process will be posted?

Answer:

We suggest you visit Canada.ca on a regular basis (some jobs are only posted for 24 hours). If you have an account with jobs.gc.ca, you can also register for Job Alert, in order to be notified of future opportunities. Job Alert will automatically send you an email whenever there are job listings posted that match your search criteria.

Additionally, you can also follow CSC on Twitter for up-to-the-minute information on new job postings.
