Beyond the Fence: A virtual tour of a Canadian penitentiary - Security classification

There are three levels of security for federal correctional institutions: minimum-, medium-, and maximum-security. Many institutions have several units of different security levels within the same perimeter. Each institution is different in both structure and layout. No two institutions are exactly the same. No matter the institution, security is a top priority for CSC. This means making sure that staff and inmates have a safe and secure place to work and live. Proper training and various types of equipment help make institutions a safe environment for everyone involved.
