User Fees and Regulatory Charges (User Fees Act)

3. Fee-setting authority: Access to Information Act

4. Year last modified: Effective March 31, 2015 no user fees are required other than the $5.00 application fee. This is a result of the TBS Directive on transforming the Access to Information Act.

5. Performance standards: The Access to information Act stipulates that requests must be answered within 30 days, unless time extensions are warranted as per section 9 of the Act. The performance standard for Correctional Service Canada is that a response to Access to Information Act requests be responded to within the legislated time frames, including extensions where warranted.

6. Performance results: In fiscal year 2015-2016, CSC received 646 formal access requests and had 219 requests outstanding from fiscal year 2014-2015 for a total of 865 requests. There were 178 requests processed past the legislated timeframe. The compliance rate for fiscal year 2015-2016 was 71.3%.
