Why was the policy created?

This CD was developed to provide CSC-specific information as to the application of the Treasury Board policies that deal with information management.

The purpose of this document is to ensure that information under CSC’s control is managed effectively and efficiently and is protected as a valuable asset of business value throughout its life cycle.

An audit conducted in 2015-2016 identified a need to provide clarification and direction on the management of information. This CD aims to further define roles, responsibilities and requirements across CSC.

How was it developed?

Information Management Services Branch developed this policy in collaboration with the Strategic Policy Division. Consultations were undertaken with the information management community across the country as well as with internal and external stakeholders.

Who will be affected by the policy?

All employees and authorized users of information under the control of CSC.
