Why was the policy changed?

The Guidelines 254-2 – Return to Work Program have been revised in response to recommendations made in the Audit of Management of Injury-On-Duty, updates required as per the Canada.ca Web Content Style Guide, and implementation of Labour Relations Bulletin 2014-04.

What has changed?

The Guidelines were amended to update and clarify:

  • roles and responsibilities
  • the process for obtaining and using medical information according to Recommendations 1 and 4 of the Audit of Management of Injury-On-Duty.

The following modifications were made to Annexes:

  • Annex E was developed to provide information related to the Government Employee Compensation Act as well as Labour Relations Bulletin 2014-04
  • Annex F to provide information on Disability Insurance Plans
  • Annex G to provide information on the Public Service Commission Priority Entitlement
  • Annex H to provide information on the Canadian Human Rights Act – Duty to Accommodate
  • old flow charts were removed from Annexes A and C to comply with Canada.ca Web Content Guide.

How was it developed?

The Guidelines were revised by the National Advisor, OHS and RTW Programs (RTW Stream), and the Director, Workplace Wellness and Employee Wellbeing, in consultation with Strategic Policy.

Accountabilities?

Roles and Responsibilities are clearly outlined in the Guidelines.

Who will be affected by the policy?

The Guidelines apply to all CSC staff.
